🌟 **Math Fun with Miss Patty!** 🌟
Today in Kindergarten, Miss Patty and the Kiddos had a blast learning to add single-digit numbers with the help of Ozobots! 🤖✨ The kids loved drawing paths and watching their answers come to life as the robots followed their calculations. It was a fantastic hands-on way to reinforce those math skills, and everyone got involved in the fun! 🧮💡

Winter Weather and Recess Participation

During colder weather, it is mandatory for all K-6th grade students to wear a hat/headband, gloves, and a warm winter jacket/coat. Snow boots and snow pants are also necessary when snow is present. It’s important to remember that bus driver regulations require appropriate winter attire for students boarding the bus. Parents will receive notification if their child arrives without proper winter clothing.
Recess supervisors will continuously monitor weather conditions.
CURRENT Feels Like Temperature Students Wear:
-10F and below .........................Automatically inside recess
Lower than 40F..........................All winter gear (As Necessary)
40F – 49....................................Long sleeves or coats
50F or higher..............................Long sleeves, short sleeves or shorts
Recess is an important part of the school day, and participation is encouraged for all students unless a daily written note from a parent/guardian or a doctor’s excuse is provided. Students will go outside for recess whenever weather and health conditions allow.
During winter, recess will be held outdoors until the temperature (including wind chill) reaches -10°F.
Please make sure your child/students come prepared with snow pants, boots, coats, hats, and gloves.
If your child/students are unable to provide any of these items, the school will help out. Students must be dressed appropriately for cold and wet conditions.
When the playground is muddy, wet, or snowy, snow boots and snow pants are required to play in those areas. Students without this gear will be asked to stay in designated dry areas.

Outdoor air has higher oxygen levels and fewer indoor pollutants. More oxygen to the brain improves: Attention, Memory, Processing speed

The **Overwrite Program** is a technology and coding activity designed especially for K–12 students. It focuses on helping kids become confident digital creators — not just users of technology.
In a fun, hands-on way, students learn things like:

🎨 Digital creativity (animations, storytelling, design)

Our students will be visiting the **Star Lab planetarium**, where they’ll travel through the night sky and learn **Sioux (Native American) star stories**.

Students recently earned their **Canva certification** and put those new skills to work by creating professional materials for **two different job opportunities**. Along the way, they learned how to read and analyze job ads — figuring out exactly what employers are looking for and how to tailor their work to match.
The learning didn’t stop there! Students **peer reviewed each other’s work**, gave constructive feedback, made corrections, and then resubmitted their projects for a final grade — just like in the real world where revisions and teamwork matter.
This is an awesome way to prepare our students for life beyond the classroom — communication, creativity, collaboration, and career readiness all in one!
And next up… **student interviews!** 😄 Can’t wait to hear what they’ve learned and see them shine!

Updated Fiscal Year Calendar
Selfridge School will have to go Virtual again on Friday January 23rd do to the extreme cold weather conditions. Normal school will resume on Monday January 26th with much better and more favorable weather conditions. Stay safe and warm. Thanks
